As we meet the beginning of July, fireworks and parties begin signaling the beginning of summer. Children are off school, and parents are ready to take them to the beach. All this means one thing. Exercise Training and Off-Season Preparation

When you are not biking during the cycling season, it is imperative to keep in shape in other ways to ensure you are strong, fit and stay in shape for the upcoming season. A lot of people take long breaks while they preparing for the season and they don’t workout nearly as much as they should. Think about it, just like a bike, a body gets rusty if you don’t grease it. You need to keep your muscles strong and fit in order to stay in shape for the season.

When I am not biking in the winter, I am going to the gym and spinning or taking some sort of cycling class. A lot of people hate stationary bikes and don’t like to incorporate that as part of their routine. That’s okay! You just need to find another type of workout that incorporates the same muscles that you use when biking – your legs, hamgstrings, thighs and calves of course! Going to the gym also is not a necessity. I was skeptical at first but decided to give it a try this month as I haven’t been cycling since it has been so hot outside. If you continue to do workout videos at home, you will also save a lot of time and hassle of going to the gym. After your cycling journey it is important to stay energized and feel your body because you will have burns a lot of calories. You can eat foods like balls, yogurt, a protein shake, or any other type of smoothie that contains protein to rebuild your muscles.


Best Places to Bike

Well, it’s summer time and depending on where you are you may be loving biking or hating it! My friend from Spain says she can’t bike there in the summer because it’s over 40 degrees Celsius and dead hot to even try biking!

Luckily where we are it’s only about 25 C on the hottest of days so I am loving taking my bike for a spin in the park.

Some people ask me why i prefer biking alone especially when I advocated meet-ups for bikes in groups and I’ll answer that with this: everyone likes to have a bit of alone time but some people require more than others.  Biking can be a leisurely activity but also a very therapeutic one. And due to things that have happened to me in my past, I view biking as exercise therapy. I bike regularly with the intention of clearing my mind, getting in shape and letting go of stress, hurt and pain.

Sometimes i like to bike with my mates through the park just for a laugh, or try some cool tricks and stuff, but in general I prefer biking alone, I love to soak up the nature and the scenery. Suits me perfectly.

Welcome to Le Tour Essex Fan club – Last year we had one of the most amazing competitions and bike races here in our region and we are anticipating the next tour.

But we don’t believe the fun has to stop now that we have finished the competition. This is a fan club for all those cycling fanatics so we can plan meet-ups and group activities to get together and practice cycling.

Some of the fans of the club are long-time cyclists with over 15 to 40 years of experience biking but we also welcome new cyclists who are just getting into the sport and learning their way around the bike! We are going to start planning different groups – large cycle groups for weekend outings just for the day – to the beach, around the park etc and we encourage new bikers to join these activities.

For advanced bikers, we recommend that you may like going on some weekend tours with us to the country side for wine tasting, swimming, camping, etc. Stay tuned for more info!
